Indiana State Park Rankings

For these rankings I looked at 5 key factors of the park: Things to see (excursions labeled on map), number of trails, crowds (how busy the park is on an average day), facilities (restrooms, visitors center/nature centers/upkeep), and uniqueness (has something the other parks do not.) Each of these parks is then rated on each factor on a scale of 1-5, the higher the sum of the numbers the better the park scored overall.

  1. Indiana Dunes State Park/National Park (27/30)

  2. Spring Mill State Park (26.5/30)

  3. McCormicks Creek State Park (26/30)

  4. Shades State Park (26/30)

  5. Turkey Run State Park (26/30)

  6. Brown County State Park (24/30)

  7. Lieber State Park (23/30)

  8. Clifty Falls (22/30)

  9. Prophetstown State Park (20/30)

  10. Fort Harrison State Park (19/30)

  11. White River State Park (18.5/30)

  12. Ouabache State Park (18.5/30)

  13. Pokagon State Park (18/30)

  14. Mounds State Park (18/30)

  15. Lincoln State Park (17/30)

  16. Chain O' Lakes (16.5/30)

  17. Charlestown State Park (16/30)

  18. Shakamak State Park (16/30)

  19. Summit Lake State Park (15.5/30)

  20. O'Bannon Woods State Park (15.5/30)

  21. Versailles State Park (15/30)

  22. Tippecanoe River State Park (14.5/30)

  23. Potato Creek State Park (14/30)

  24. Harmonie State Park (13/30)

  25. Whitewater Memorial State Park (12/30)

  26. Falls of Ohio State Park (11/30)

As a disclaimer, I thought this was a fair way to rank the parks for others to see how close some of the parks are. However, this is by no means measures ever aspect of each park. Just because some of the parks scored lower does not mean that I did not enjoy every one of them for their own unique traits. I just hope this list inspires you to visit them all as well and make your own list someday!

Until Next Time,

Macy
